Defectors Protest at London Embassy

[imText2]Federation of North Korean Residents in Europe (FNKR), a new defector organization based in the U.K., held a demonstration on the 8th in front of the North Korean embassy building in London to denounce a planned embassy event to commemorate the North Korean regime’s foundation and the tenth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the North and the U.K.

According to FNKR, some 20 British pro-Kim Jong Il regime individuals were invited to the embassy event.

An FNKR staffer, Kim Ju Il said, “It doesn’t make any sense for the U.K., which is known as ‘the cradle of democracy,’ to congratulate the North Korean embassy on its regime’s founding. It is an act which makes fun of the North Korean people’s human rights situation.”

Through a statement, the FNKR urged, “The international community should put the dictator Kim Jong Il and his followers on trial in the International Criminal Court and punish them for their inhumane criminal activities in the name of justice and to relieve the North Korean people’s pain and release them from the chains of repression.”

Around ten FNKR members demonstrated, shouting slogans such as “Let’s judge Dictator Kim Jong Il!” and “Dismantle the political prison camps now!”

The Federation of North Korean Residents in Europe was launched in July this year in London. It aims to release North Korean information to the world, expose the reality of the Kim Jong Il regime and urge the international community to bring the North to reform.
