Celebrating Three Years of Korea Policy

[imText1]Launched back in March 2010, the Korea Policy Research Institute is, just like the sinking of the Cheonan, three years old this month.

By providing first class research into inter-Korean relations and unification policy and publishing the unification, diplomacy and national security journal ‘Korea Policy’, the institute has become a leading light in the growing field of private policy research.

In particular, through the bi-monthly distribution of ‘Korea Policy’ to government agencies, media groups and educational and research institutes nationwide, it has repeatedly shown the way forward for government policy in a timely manner, and has received positive appraisals from domestic experts for its work.

At the core of the institute is its chairman, Professor Yoo Ho Yeol. A long-time professor of North Korean studies at the prestigious Korea University; Yoo is one of just a tiny handful of domestic household names in the field of North Korean studies.

So, to celebrate the third birthday of the institute and get an expert perspective on North Korea at this testing time, Daily NK visited the Seoul offices of the Korea Policy Research Institute to talk to Professor Yoo.
