North Korea has attacked the South Korean government for trying to ¡°deceive public opinion¡± after the Ministry of Unification called upon Pyongyang to stop trying to pass the buck for the closure of the Kaesong Industrial Complex and enter into dialogue.
A spokesperson for North Korea¡¯s Guidance Bureau for Developing Central Special Economic Zone, which oversees the operation of the Kaesong Industrial Complex, told Chosun Central News Agency (KCNA) today, ¡°Now is the time for the South Chosun authorities to state before the public whether they have any intention of settling the Kaesong Industrial Complex issue or not.¡±
¡°The South Chosun authorities should stop concealing the essence of the problem and attempting to foolishly deceive public opinion, and should clarify their position on the fundamental problem,¡± it went on. ¡°What South Chosun public opinion is truly demanding is the normalization of the Kaesong Industrial Complex, not simply the removal of products from it.¡±
Pyongyang has regularly attacked South Korea in recent days for its ¡°provocative¡± and ¡°confrontational¡± words. The focus of the South Korean government is on attempting to get access to raw materials and finished goods still inside the Kaesong manufacturing zone, but North Korea has rejected all calls for dialogue on the matter.
On Sunday, the Ministry of Unification released a statement calling again for dialogue and urging North Korea to cease its provocative actions. These include sending faxes to companies ordinarily operating in the Kaesong Industrial Complex, in addition to launching six short-range missiles since Saturday morning.
