¡°Because we took the position of the southern side companies into account, we did not take grave measures such as closing down the Kaesong Industrial Complex completely and forcibly deporting personnel,¡± North Korea claimed today, asserting that it has been the actor solely responsible for the longevity of the Kaesong project.
Rodong Sinmun, the daily publication of the Chosun Workers¡¯ Party, in a piece entitled ¡®The Foolish Act of Poking Out Your Own Eyes,¡¯ stated, ¡°The puppet party should know that the reason why the Kaesong Industrial Complex is not in a worse state than this, despite their extremely provocative nuclear war exercises and badmouthing us in the extreme conservative media, is wholly down to our self-discipline.¡±
The piece went on to criticize the withdrawal of all South Korean workers by the Seoul government as ¡°despicable behaviour,¡± explaining, ¡°They must know clearly that they will never be able to avoid criminal responsibility for putting the Kaesong Complex at risk of complete closure.¡±
It continued, ¡°The South Korean puppets have no right to talk about ¡®respecting inter-Korean agreements¡¯ and ¡®implementation¡¯,¡± accusing Seoul of ¡°talking as if we earn a fortune because of the Kaesong Industrial Complex¡± and using it to pressure Pyongyang.
¡°Currently, inter-Korea relation are in a wartime state,¡± it went on. ¡°If they keep making the situation worse then we will have to take the final decisive action as we previously warned. If the Kaesong Industrial Complex completely closes down then the current puppet regime will be branded as a more confrontational regime than even the previous Lee Myung Bak puppets.¡±
Following the withdrawal of all remaining staff from tenant companies on the 27th, the last fifty South Koreans in Kaesong, including management and infrastructure support staff, are expected to return south in the coming days.
