Defector Groups Vow to Remember Cheonan

Defector groups in South Korea have expressed their determination
to continue their struggle against the Kim Jong Eun regime in order that the 46
seamen who perished on the ROKS Cheonan did not lose their lives in vain.

Marking the fourth anniversary of the sinking, Hong Sun Kyung
of the Committee for the Democratization of North Korea told Daily NK yesterday,
“No matter who may argue otherwise, the sinking of the ROKS Cheonan was an act perpetrated
by North Korea; a fact the Kim Jong Eun regime must
acknowledge and reflect upon. If they wish to become a member
of the international community then they must take full responsibility for
their actions.”

Continuing, he resolved his group would continue doing their best to bring about “change that will see the transformation of
the lives of the North Korean people.”

Lee Seok Yong of Free North Korea Radio concurred, asserting that defector groups will “unite forces in condemning the inhumane
acts of North Korea.”

“We will never forget the sacrifice made by these young men in their 20s while defending South Korea’s territorial waters,” he said, before adding, “We will not cease our struggle against the Kim Jong Eun
regime until the day it sincerely reflects on its mistakes and guarantees the
freedom and human rights of its people.”

Around thirty members of various defector groups met yesterday
at the Daejeon National Cemetery to pay their respects to the fallen. A further
fifty activists convened at the Unification Observatory in Paju on Tuesday to fly
600,000 leaflets condemning the sinking of the Cheonan across the border into
North Korea.
