Lee Paints a Picture of DUP Policy

Lee Hae Chan, the chairman of the Democratic United Party, has declared that if the DUP wins this December’s South Korean presidential election then it will make a 3rd inter-Korean summit and the re-launching of the Six-Party Talks part of its policy for 2013.

Speaking at an event in the National Assembly today, Lee revealed, “When the DUP takes power, we will have a 3rd South-North Summit and restart the Six-Party Talks. We will also announce the implementation of the Inter-Korean Basic Agreement, the June 15th Joint Statement and the October 4th Summit Agreement, and solve the North Korean nuclear issue, which is the core factor in Korean Peninsula insecurity, through the Six-Party Talks.

Lee declared also that the process of denuclearizing North Korea would be made possible through the implementation of the 2005 September 19th Joint Statement.

He also asserted that missions should be established in Pyongyang and Seoul to oversee inter-Korean economic cooperation.
