Ban Planning to Meet Kim in Tehran

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon has revealed his desire to meet with Kim Young Nam, who chairs the standing committee of the Supreme Peoples Assembly, at the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran, Iran, which began yesterday.

Speaking at a meeting organized by the American Red Cross in Washington DC on the same day, Ban commented, As there are many occasions for participating heads of state to get together, there will be a chance to meet Chairman Kim Young Nam and talk about peace on the Korean Peninsula and South-North Korea exchanges."

He also revealed that discussions within UN agencies on providing aid to combat recent drought and flooding in North Korea are ongoing.

Ban is scheduled to attend the summit from Wednesday to Friday this week.
