Sim Sang Jeung, the newly declared leader of the embattled United Progressive Party (UPP), has declared that the expulsion of rogue lawmakers Lee Seok Gi and Kim Jae Yeon is an issue that must be discussed by the entire National Assembly.

¡°It is a problem that should be discussed in a general meeting of the Assembly, and then a responsible decision should be made,¡± she told BBS Radio this morning.

¡°The problem is one that involves great responsibility, and I believe it should be the responsibility of the entire Assembly to deal with it publicly,¡± she added, going on to say of the UPP itself, ¡°The problems that have come out of the proportional representative issue will be dealt with quickly, and then we will be able to show a new face to the people.¡±

Sim was elected as floor leader of the UPP on the 10th by a meeting of party lawmakers. Lee and Kim have already been stripped of their seats on the party central committee, but are currently refusing to leave the party.
