Taxi Driver Arrested for Pro-NK Comments

A 49-year-old taxi driver known only by his surname, Son, is facing charges of violating the National Security Law following his arrest for pro-North Korea activities.

Incheon District Prosecutors allege that the accused visited various North Korean-related websites and posted around 60 comments commending the 3rd generation succession and advocating North Korean-led reunification by force.

The comments were posted between December 2010 and the time of his arrest, and included such insights as, “It’s the succession to the fatherland and its people’s ideological and revolutionary spirit!”

Additionally, Son was found to be in possession of 50 different volumes of pro-North Korean reading material, such as the well-known memoir of Kim Il Sung, ‘With the Century’ and a book analyzing and praising Kim Jong Il’s military-first policy.

Revealing news of the arrest, prosecutors declared menacingly, “We will continue to pay close attention to and deal with acts benefiting the enemy.”
