The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff conducted a check on military readiness early this morning.
The exercise was carried out by ROK ballistic missile command, front-line artillery units and the ROK Air Force at 4AM based on the notion of a North Korean artillery assault on frontline troops and areas of Seoul.
An official with the Joint Chiefs of Staff said, “This readiness inspection stressed ensuring the ability to respond to the time and origin of enemy provocations and their supporting forces.”
A Ministry of National Defense official also commented, “(The Minister of National Defense) knows about the discomfort felt by the people due to North Korea’s threats. The military is maintaining its readiness posture, but this was intended to give the conviction that units are ready to implement the emergency joint strategy correctly and respond immediately.”
