Former President Kim Young Sam said, “It is the crime in history that Kim Dae Jung committed by feeding the dying Kim Jung Il dictatorship with the tax of South Korean citizens. He is the one that caused the nuclear crisis today by providing them with five hundred million dollars.”
Research Institute for Democratic Ideology (Co-representative: Kang Tae Wook) is a research institute created by academics who have been researching about human-centered political philosophy of democracy and Hwang Jang Yop, Chairman of Alliance for Democratization in North Korea. Former President Kim Young Sam has had a special relationship with Chairman Hwang, and was appointed an Honorary President of the Research Institute.
Former President Kim Young Sam said, “Because of Kim Dae Jung and Roh Moo Hyun Administration, this country is ruled by the pro-North Korean, leftist power. We need to keep on struggling to keep the pro North Korean, leftist power from ruling the country the way they want.”
He also said, “People against the transfer of US military base to Pyongtaek and joint military training of ROK and US military, and who insist on removing the statue of General McArther are publicly active. They are following the secret orders from North Korea and their identities should be brought to light.”
He also said, “South Korean government has abandoned the people of North Korea who are dying under the dictatorship of Kim Jong Il by the abstention at the voting for the resolution on human rights situation in North Korea at the UN. Such coward behavior to please Kim Jong Il needs to stop”.
Former President Kim Young Sam pointed out, “Kim Jong Il regime is a violent group which sustains itself by suppressing the people by guns and brainwashing the people. Kim Jong Il regime will not last long, and it is impossible to expect reform and opening from gangster-like organization”.
Correct Way for Democracy Will Be Brought to Light
Hwang Jang Yop said at the special lecture, “In South Korea, there are people who are contaminated by anti-democratic ideology, and think that pro-North Korean/Anti-American ideology is progressive and democratic. In order to light the way for the South Korean citizens toward the development of democracy, academics and politicians who value and carry out democracy need to be frontiers in studying and researching about democracy again.”
Hwang said, “North Korea changed into a hell on earth where famine, poverty and violation of human rights are widespread, while South Korea has achieved magnificent development where there is democracy. The cause of such big difference is the system of democracy and non-democracy and it has been proven in front of the whole world.”
Co-representative Kang Tae Wook said, “The asylum of Mr. Hwang Jang Yop who was the brain of North Korean regime reveals the falsehood and deception of Juche Ideology and hereditary dictatorship in North Korea. It means that democracy has won, and we need to prepare the foundation of unification of North and South Korea by researching and developing the political philosophy of democracy.”
Representative of North Korea Democratization Forum, Lee Dong Bok said, “Some are suspicious about the human-centered democratic ideology of Mr. Hwang, wondering ‘if it is another Juche Ideology’, but it is not true”, in his congratulatory remark.
Lee emphasized, “Mr. Hwang’s ‘human-centered democracy’ needs to be understood as a process, not the result, of integrating democracy based on individualism which is the foundation of capitalistic democracy, and democracy based on collectivism”.
Research Institute for Democratic Ideology, in its opening statement, announced that “Our task is to overcome the present crisis in political philosophy and realize a leap in politics and economy with more developed democratic ideology based on the guidance of human-centered democratic philosophical theory.”
Research Institute plans to expand the correct liberal democracy through forums, symposiums and education programs, and suggest solutions. Also, Mr. Hwang will be holding special lecture series of 20 lectures which will last for 5 months on human-centered philosophy, using his writings [Perspective on Life], [Perspective on Social History], [Perspective on the World], [Several Problems with Human-Centered Philosophy], etc.
