Hyundai Opens Second Duty Free Shop at KIC

An opening ceremony was held today at the Kaesong Industrial
Complex [KIC] Support Center for a second Hyundai duty free shop within the special administrative industrial region.  30 Hyundai Asan executives and staff members attended the event, as well as Kim Nam Sik, chairman of the Kaesong Industrial District
Management Committee.

The new 40 pyeong [130 square meters]
facility will offer the latest electronics, high-end cosmetics,  and other luxury goods manufactured in South Korea.

The first branch of the duty free shop at
KIC opened in 2009; the first location in North Korea–now defunct– opened in the east Onjonggak hall of Mt. Geumgang resort in 1999.

Of most interest to potential shoppers  in the new location is the
addition of Aritaum products, an upscale cosmetics brand under Amore Pacific, South Korea’s
largest beauty products company, whose founder originally hailed from Hwanghae
Province, North Korea.

The first location of the duty free shop
in KIC offered different varieties of domestic cosmetic brands, but this is the
first time Amore Pacific products will number among them,
a Hyundai Asan official said. These goods
combine practicality with elegance so we expect a positive response from
visitors to this new location.
