Pres. Park: ‘NK’s Sincerity and Actions Are Key’

South Korean President Park Geun Hye said
on Tuesday that at this juncture, North Korea
s sincerity and willingness to
put words into action are paramount regarding Kim Jong Eun’s recent mention of the possibility for inter-Korean talks.

It is fortunate that North Korea expressed
a stance to foster inter-Korean talks and exchanges in its New
Year
s Address, but in the past, there have been
stumbling blocks and South-North relations have not been able to progress
continually,
the President said while overseeing this
year
s first Cabinet meeting.

North Korea must swiftly come out to the
arena of dialogue and exchange, and I hope it will discuss specific projects to
establish peace on the Korean Peninsula and realize unification,
President Park added.

She also emphasized that the South Korean
government must push forward the basic work necessary to overcome pains of
division and open an era of unification this year, which marks the 70th
anniversary since Korea
s liberation from Japans colonial rule and the division of the Korean Peninsula.
