NK to Lift Ebola-Related Ban on Foreigners Next Month

The restrictions on foreign tourists
entering North Korea, aimed at preventing the spread of the Ebola virus, will be
lifted next month, according to a Voice of America [VOA] report from December 14th.

“There are strong signs that North Korea
will recommence tourism from January of next year,” a staff member with Uri
Tours, a U.S.-based tour operator specializing in tours to North Korea, told
the broadcast institution.

He also said that starting from January,
the previously scheduled winter ski tours and other tourism activities slated for the spring will progress as planned.

This closely follows a report by Beijing-based Koryo Tours on December 11th, asserting that   foreigners would be allowed to enter the country for the “Mangyongdae
Prize International Marathon”
in April, based on information the tour group received from
North Korean authorities affiliated with the event.
