MoU Requests 10.30 Inter-Korean Talks

South Korea’s Ministry of Unification announced on October 15th its plans for a second round of high-level inter-Korean talks to take place on October 30th at Tongilgak, a meeting location on the North Korean side of Panmunjom, the truce village straddling the inter-Korean border. The Ministry submitted the motion to its high-level counterparts in the North on October 13th.

“In accordance with discussions during the first round of talks with the North Korean delegation on October 4th [during the Incheon Asian Games closing ceremony] we have proposed the second round of talks take place at the end of October or the beginning of November,” an official from the Unification Ministry stated. 

The North has not yet responded to the request; an official from the Ministry revealed that the specifics of the meeting schedule have not yet been determined.
