NK Athletes Arrive for Asian Para Games

The North Korean athletes slated to participate in the
upcoming Incheon 2014 Asian Para Games were the first to arrive at the
Guwol Asiad Apartments athletes’ village on October 14th at 11a.m. [KST].

North Korea has sent nine athletes to the event to
compete in four events: track and field, archery, table tennis, and swimming.
This the first time the North has participated in the competition.

North Korea’s delegation for the Games, comprised of 29 members, arrived in South Korea on October 12th. Jeong Hyun, head of the delegation; Deputy
Director, Choe Myong Il; coaching staff, a medical team, and a reporting crew
were among the group’s personnel.

Training for the competition began in the afternoon on
October 13th at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, Songdo Global University Gymnasium,
and Munhak Park Tae-hwan Aquatics Center, named after the South Korean Olympic
champion.

Along with the two Koreas, 2,500 athletes and 1,500 coaching staff from 41
countries will participate in 23 events at the 2014 Incheon Asian Para Games,
scheduled to take place from October 18-October 24th.
