Oshima Shotaro, Japanese Ambassador to Seoul, said in a meeting with the South Korean opposition leader Kang Jae Sub, on Friday that the Japanese government would enforce its own embargo policy against North Korea.
The Ambassador confirmed Tokyo's plan of kicking all the North Korea-owned ships in Japan out by Friday midnight.
On possibility of Japanese nuclearization following North Korea's nuclear test, Ambassador Oshima reaffrimed Prime Minister Abe's statement in the Diet's questioning session not to develop nuclear weapon, and emphasized the Japanese government's commitment to the 3 Principles of Non-Nuclear Policy, in which it was articulated neither to produce, to possess nor to allow entrance of nuclear weapon.
"Japan," the Ambassador said, "hopes nuclear-free Korean Peninsula. And the Japanese government will follow the UN resolution, and is participating in PSI."
When asked whether to possess detailed information about North Korea's nuclear test, Ambassador Oshima replied that his government was still 'in search' of more information and not conclusive on that matter.
In the meeting, leader of South Korea's Grand National Party, the main opposition conservative party, said it is 'most important to work through regional cooperation to solve the nuclear crisis.'
