KIC Permission Denial "Regrettable"

The South Korean government has expressed disappointment at North Koreas decision to deny Saenuri Party member Cho Myung Chul entry to the Kaesong Industrial Complex.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Unification Kim Eui Do revealed in a press briefing on the 28th that the the Ministry regards this move as "regrettable."

North Korea granted permission on the 24th to the members of the National Assemblys Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee to visit the complex. Cho, a former professor who defected from the North in 2004, was refused permission two days later on the 26th.

It is expected that the October 30th visit will proceed according to schedule.

The delegation will conduct an inspection of the main facilities and enterprises operating at the complex, and will meet with business representatives. The visitors do not plan to meet with North Korean officials.

South Koreas Vice Unification Minister Kim Nam Sik is also set to accompany the committee on tomorrows visit.
