North and South Korea have been reinforcing their positions on yesterday’s failure of inter-Korean working-level talks for the normalization of the Kaesong Industrial Complex.
“Recurrence prevention and the developmental normalization of the [Kaesong Industrial Complex] are the government’s stance and basic principles,” a spokesperson for the office of President Park Geun Hye noted this morning, sticking to the administration’s existing perspective.
“That is a piece of common sense that the people [of South Korea] all sympathize with,” the spokesperson went on.
Meanwhile, the North Korean position was reaffirmed in a piece carried overnight by Chosun Central News Agency (KCNA), the North Korean state news agency. It accused South Korea of sticking to an unreasonable and inflexible position.
“The South side, by pushing Kaesong Industrial Complex normalization talks into a crisis situation, will never be able to evade responsibility for the resultant negative outcomes,” it warned.
