South Korean police have arrested a number of defectors on charges of drug smuggling.
Incheon police today revealed the arrest of 29 people, including 43-year old defector Kim, on suspicion of smuggling methamphetamines into South Korea from China. A further 56 people were booked without detention.
The group is accused of smuggling 80g of the drug into Korea from Dandong through the port at Incheon in June this year.
According to police, the gang secretly hid the drugs in the bag of another traveller on a boat traveling between China and South Korea, and then stole the bag upon arrival at Incheon Passenger Terminal.
