President's Message Editor's Message
Our society that must take the lead in directing the peninsula¡¯s destiny has not yet found right perspective and direction. Instead, it is repeating its same mistakes.
The path we must take is the road to change the Kim Jong Il authoritarian regime, realize democracy in North Korea and cultivate the future, together with 23 million brothers and sisters in North Korea. Strengthen democracy on the Korean peninsula, accomplish peaceful reunification and contribute to peace in Northeast Asia and world democracy. This is the direction of the path we must take.
Way to reunification is no different. Human rights improvement and democratization of the northern part of the Korean peninsula is the road to reunification. Our society has lost such principles and is wandering in mist, with an illusion that the immediate changes they see now are fundamental changes. Without realizing, our society has lost direction and people fell into ¡°collective somnambulism.¡±
We are establishing The Daily NK at this difficult yet crucial time, the time when the Korean peninsula is about to meet one of the greatest historical changes.
